Best Recommended Staple Spell Cards in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel
Crossout Designator
Crossout Designator is a quick-play spell card that has a really powerful effect. This card allows its user to banish one card from their deck and if they do, that card's effects are negated until the end of the turn.
This card is mostly used as a means of countering popular hand traps like Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Infinite Impermanence. The only thing holding this card back is the fact that the user needs to be playing a copy of the hand trap they're responding to in their deck.
Upstart Goblin
Upstart Goblin is an incredibly simple card. At the cost of giving your opponent 1000 Life Points, you get to draw a card. While this doesn't seem amazing at first glance, it's actually so good it's Limited in the TCG to just one copy per deck. Since Master Duel uses the OCG banlist, you have access to the full three copies.
Drawing cards in Yu-Gi-Oh! is the best effect in the game because of how important card advantage is. Upstart Goblin essentially allows you to run a 37 card deck, as you can use it to essentially get closer to the cards that you actually need to start your plays.
Forbidden Droplet
It allows you to send cards from your hand to the graveyard in order to negate the effects and halve the attacks of monsters currently on the field equal to the amount sent to the graveyard. Since your opponent can’t negate the card’s activation with cards of the same type as those discarded (monster, spell, trap) it can stop an opponent from developing their board. Unlike Lance, Droplet is limited to once per turn.
Lightning Storm
The strength of this spell card comes from its versatility. Lightning Storm essentially offers both the effects of Raigeki and Harpie’s Feather Duster within a single card, with player choice and versatility at its core. Rather than running both of those aforementioned cards in your deck, taking up two vital spots in the process, you can simply run one copy of this card and gain the advantages of both at the same time.
Concentrating Current
Concentrating Current spent a lot of time being underappreciated since it was in the same box as many powerful Six Samurai cards. However, players soon discovered its potential and it became a staple in many decks. It's good for going both first and second, as the player can set it to surprise an opponent or go for an OTK.
Concentrating Current can take advantage of Monsters with high Defense Points, and turn them into behemoths capable of winning the duel in just one attack. Concentrating Current was so good that it was put on the Semi-Limited list to avoid it being used with other staples.
Harpie's Feather Duster
Harpie's Feather Duster is a normal spell card that has a very simple effect: Destroy all Spell and Trap Cards the opponent controls. Short, sweet, and very powerful. This card is so powerful that it is currently limited to one copy per deck.
Harpie's Feather Duster is great for going second and getting rid of the opponent's problem back row cards like Solemn Judgment and Forbidden Droplet, or even floodgates like Skill Drain and Summon Limit.
