The front line is the foundation of any solid team composition in Paladins. They hold the responsibility of attacking, capturing and maintaining control of the objective whilst also soaking up enemy damage to protect their teammates. So, if you are learning a frontline, which is a good first frontline to start with ?
For beginners, I’d recommend starting with offtanks. They are aggressive, mobile fat damage dealers. They can fight near point or push with your team’s flank. These decks aren’t necessarily the ones I use, but I’d recommend as good starting points.
Ruckus
Cauterize 3 -> Master Riding / Rejuvenate -> Haven/Blast Shields

Slow when firing, so use your Advance/F to get into position
In lower elos, just F onto a squishy and Rocket Barrage/RMB to death
Pre-emptively use your shield. having your health is more valuable than shields
Don’t push or ult if you don’t have a shield
Makoa
Cauterize/Wrecker 3 -> Master Riding / Morale Boost / Chronos / Rejuvenate - > Haven/Blast Shield
anti CC

non CC

In lower elos, just run at squishies and kill them
Don’t waste your hook on easy targets. hook only when they running/using an ability (since hook can interrupt it)
Shield for your team when they need it! this includes when a blockable ult is coming through (Lian) or when enemy attention is funneling lots of dmg down 1 particular hallway that you can block
Assuming you’re an aggressive player, save your Shell Spin/F for when youre running away after diving
Use your Ult to run into someone else's CC ult (like Bombking) to completely negate it
Fernando
Cauterize 3 -> Master Riding / Rejuvenate -> Haven / Blast Shield
Anti CC

Non CC

Spam Fireball/Q EXCEPT WHEN you can line someone up and get a double fireball. you always always want to hit multiple ppl with fireball
In lower elos, just run at squishies and fireball them to death. when youre low, use your Charge/F first to get the movement speed then Shield/RMB to get to safety
Never sit on point and just shield. never just shield when you can be doing dmg. 1 exception below
Again, shield for your team when they need it! see the Makoa tip
Of course, there are other offtanks, but these 3 I’ve found most “apt” in teaching my friends who are new to game + dps mains. the tips above also fully apply in higher elos, but just a starting point.
