The Cultists are a deadly organization that work behind the scenes to control Ancient Greece in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Its members are hostile towards the protagonist. You will eliminate some of them during the game. In this Assassin's Creed Odyssey Cult of Kosmos guide, we'll be walking you through tracking down and killing multiple members of the mysterious group, as they're scattered far and wide across the Greek world.

The protagonist will have to infiltrate their hideout in chapter 3 after progressing to The Serpent's Lair main quest. After the visit to the Cultists' hideout, a new section will be added to the pause menu - The Cultists. From thence on, you will be able to track them down and eliminate them.

Since hunting for the Cultists happens independently of the progression in subsequent stages of the main thread, you can still engage in main quests without the need to grind for the cultists' encounters.

Taking down the Cult of Kosmos requires a significant time investment, as they’ re hidden throughout the world in plain sight. You’ ll therefore need to gather clues left by each individual cultist to find their identity. Once found, you’ ll be able to piece together their identities, so that you can hunt them down, potentially gathering more clues to more senior members of the sect. Some will be revealed during the story missions, but others require a bit more detective work.

In the screenshot just above,you can see the main 'Cultists' menu in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. You’ ll see that there are seven branching paths in the Cult of Kosmos. There's a certain hierarchy at play here. Lower cultists answer to the higher ones (Sages). The only exception is Deimos. He doesn't have any subjects. All the lines of the diagram lead to a single entity - The Ghost of Kosmos, who is the leader. In order to destroy the Cult, you will have to hunt for the lowest-ranking members. Killing them will gradually reveal to you the identities of the Sages.  After clicking any cultist, the game will show you his bio. Some are known to the protagonist right away. You can start tracking the given person, as well as learn about the rewards for killing them. The identity of most cultists is a mystery at the beginning. In these cases, you will first need to collect the traces allowing you to identify the figure you're looking for. In the case of low-rank cultists, you only need one piece of evidence, but the more important members of the Cult (such as the one above) require five traces. There are plenty of ways to find the clue. For those that you have no lead, there will be clues in their individual cultist page that will lead you to certain locations to uncover items. Head over to where it says and keep an eye out for the text appearing on screen that says “Cultist clue nearby”. For some, it’s looking in chests, while others may require you to buy items from merchants. You may also need to complete certain side quests in order to establish their identity.

Once you’ve compiled all the information you can muster on a single Cultist of Kosmos, you’ll have to head back to the Cultists menu. From here, you have to manually go into the Cultist’s entry on the page, and hold X/A to uncover their true identity. After this, a marker will appear on your map of a golden mask, revealing the location of the Cultist, so you can take them out and eliminate them entirely.
