Every year this forum is flooded with questions about how to hit better, how to break out of a slump, best settings to use, why can't I hit with player X and a ton of other questions with a similar theme. To help them out, here 5mmo.com shares some tips for hitting the ball in MLB The Show 19. First, you need to have the right settings. Personally, I play with the PCI Hidden and strike zone turned off... this means I have the clearest visual possible. Don’t worry about the lack of PCI.. I promise you it’s still there! Not everyone is made to play on Legend of HoF... if you need help and find yourself constantly struggling, there is no shame in lowering the difficulty. For the rest of the guide keep in mind that I play on Legend Hitting, Zone Timing, All of my hitting sliders are default, except my timing is at 2 instead of 5. Guess Pitch is off and I highly suggest you don’t use it as well!

This is a massive key online. Sometimes last year the guy facing me would no hit me for three innings and I’d score 6 runs in the top of the fourth and still be hitting when he quit. Pay attention to EVERYTHING. How does he start out lefties and righties? What pitches does he throw in a full count? After he gives up a base hit, does his pattern change? Sometimes it’s obvious what the opponent is doing, sometimes it’s subtle. The more you pick up on, the better you are going to be. For example, last year in the left hand pitcher/right handed hitter event, I notice the opposing player would always throw an inside curve on 2-1 counts. Usually I’d look for fastballs in a count like this and let a low curve go. But he wasn’t missing with these curve balls, they were catching a little too much of the plate. As luck would have it, the next time I had a 2-1 count against him was in the bottom half of the last inning with the bases loaded and down 2 runs. I sat on it, timed it and won the game with a walk off grand slam. Make mental notes of how people get you out and use that information to your advantage.
 
Sell all silvers+ at the beginning of the game and play through missions with commons and bronzes. This will insure that you’ll get the best value for those cards since a big sect of people buy them up at launch. They’ll be worth 25% of what they were a few weeks post launch.
 
Use one of the strikezone cameras (i prefer strikezone 2) and don’t swing at the first pitch, at least first time through the order. Some guys throw tons of strikes and you have to adjust. Some guys throws tons of pitches outside the zone. Figure out who you are facing, what their tendencies are, then adjust. First time through the lineup, I take lots of pitches. Second time through, I look at the pitch sequence from the first AB and then prepare accordingly.

 
 

Go to the batting cage, put the controller down and watch pitches. I don't care what hitting view you use. Look at balls and strikes. Learn to recognize the curve, the change, the slider. Once you've spent a ton of time looking at pitches, pick of the controller and get to work on taking pitches.When you can draw a walk and force 3 ball counts, I promise you that you will hit the ball better.
