Make yourself familiarize with the controls
Forget what you know from other shooter games. Without hud markings and visual feedback, you are strongly dependent on spatial perception and disciplined shooting in Tarkov. A practiced handling with control is indispensable. The usual used Hotkeys like “R”for Reload and your Inventory on “TAB” are available, but there are many other functions. Scavs are always armed, and also drop necessary items such as money or meds. Just take their gun, vest, or bag and leave. That way, you’ll always have back up equipment in future rounds. Play as one every time it’s available so you don’t lose as much as when you use your main character. There’s no set method to farm, and what works for another won’t necessarily work for you. Everyone is the enemy when you’re a PMC
When you do have to play as a PMC, all bets are off when you encounter any character, player-controlled, or AI. You should consider anyone you meet to be hostile and fire on sight. Scav AI will always be unfriendly to you, and players will typically be as well. To survive as a PMC, you have to be ruthless, especially if you’re a solo player, so don’t feel bad if you have to kill a player, even if they’re poorly armed. It’s survival of the fittest in Tarkov, after all.
 
Examine everything available to you
From the Escape from Tarkov start menu, you’ll see the Trading option, which you want to click on. Within the Trading menu are eight different kinds of dealers, the Flea Market, and the Auction. Although, we’re more concerned with the dealers. Each dealer sells and buys different kinds of loot. For example, Therapist sells medicine, maps, and other items that may be useful to you. Though, upon first looking at Therapist’s offerings, you’ll see that most of her contents are blacked out. This is because you haven’t examined those items yet. To examine an item, click the middle-mouse button or right-click and press Examine. This will allow you to see that particular item in both the menu and in-game. Spend some time examining everything each dealer has to offer. Doing this makes it so you don’t have to examine a certain item in the middle of a match.
