How to Complete the Acquisition Challenge in Destiny 2

In the normal version of Acquisition, players should split into teams to take care of the Obelisks and read the symbols on the totems close to them. The first symbol on any totem will indicate the location of a Taken Knight: Pyramid means the left side, while Traveler means the right. The second symbol will indicate one of the rooms that players have to go into. Once they go in, a glyph for either Light or Darkness will pop up. The player inside the room should take out the corresponding Glyphkeeper, which will present a glyph. After doing this once for each totem, the Obelisks will glow and players should shoot the Obelisk with the three symbols that spawned from the Glyphkeepers. Do that three times and the encounter ends—when you’re not going after a challenge, that is.

 

The problem with this challenge, and what makes it difficult, is that the three Champions don’t always spawn at the same time. So to succeed, some players are going to have to deal with a Champion without killing it for long stretches of time.

 

While players can just wait until all three Champions are up and then count down for a triple kill, we used a different strategy.

 

To properly execute this, assign three players in place of two for the Obelisk team. The challenge is very much doable with two, but the risk of the boss getting near Obelisk is higher. This is also the case with Pervading Darkness. Once the encounter starts, one player should enter the room, pick up a piece of knowledge, and get out.

 

Each Obelisk defender needs to have an Unstoppable weapon, and keep their Champion perpetually stunned until it’s time to put the Obelisk code in. Enter the code like normal, and then use the brief moment of quiet during the fight to kill the Champions. Everyone should count down to sync up their stuns and kills. Keep an eye on the game’s kill feed to check when everyone’s Champion is both stunned and killed, and to ensure that “Challenge Failed” doesn’t pop up.

 

The key to this is to not be right next to the obelisks unless it’s absolutely necessary, as the Adherents will target a player if they are in range or their line of sight. Instead, defend slightly away from the Adherents in order to bait them into attacking it right away, making your job much easier. Additionally, if Adherents spawn when you are inputting the symbols into the obelisk, do not shoot them. Killing them won’t count until the next phase starts and they begin shooting up at the obelisk once again. It’s fine if the entire encounter ends and there are still some alive. You don’t need to kill all the Adherents, but if you choose to, they need to be killed while firing at the obelisk.
