How to farm Eridium quickly in Borderlands 3
The key to farming Eridium comes after you complete the first Vault. After defeating the massive Vault Guardian, head inside the Vault and grab the artifact from the pedestal. This artifact will allow you to break through Eridium Crystals that you can find all around the different worlds. You’ve probably already seen a good few of these crystals as you’ve explored Pandora and Promethea, and if you’re like us, then you’ve probably already wondered how to break them open.
You’ll be lumped back at the last checkpoint with no boss to slay and can simply run straight into the vault to farm the Eridium from the chests. Better still, you’ll occasionally be able to open the chests so you can farm weapons, too. You should get a few hundred Eridium with each run, so if you’re committed, you can farm thousands of Eridium before resuming with the main story in Borderlands 3. Eridium is a very useful resource for getting Borderlands 3 weapons, Borderlands 3 anointed gear, and improving your Borderlands 3 builds.
Purple Crystals (easiest method): Find purple crystals that are randomly placed across all planets, for example in Pandora “The Droughts” area you will frequently see them. Just drive around in a car and watch out for the purple crystals. Melee them to make Eridium drop out. This is the easiest way to farm Eridium but it still takes a while to accumulate large quantities.
If you’re looking to get a bunch of Eridium relatively quickly, we recommend heading to
EDEN-6. Many of the swamps have plenty of Eridium to farm, and you can always loop around in a vehicle to speed things up. The swamps around the Jakobs Manor is a particularly good place to start.
The Forgotten Basilica - Beneath the Meridian- It's very early in the game's release, but there's a small Eridium farm you can take advantage of currently. This is right after you get the ability to harvest those Eridium Crystals we mentioned previously on Chapter 10. Do not go any further than this if you want to farm some of this early in the game! Once you clear out the boss that protects the vault, you'll be able to enter it and there will be two chests at the back of the area. These chests both have Eridium on them, so melee it off to collect them and loot the chests (might not be lootable at first). Once you've done that, quit out of the game and restart. Run back down into the vault and repeat.
