Animal Crossing New Horizons Terraforming Waterfalls Design Tips: How to Make Waterfalls in ACNH
Making Waterfalls is an important activity in Animal Crossing. Learn how to make waterfalls using the Island Designer app in Animal Crossing: New Horizons (ACNH). If you want to create fantastic waterfall to terraform on your island, please follow this guide! We will tell you how to make waterfalls and some tips.
How to Make Waterfalls
1.Unlock the Necessary Permits Needed
Once you unlock the Island Designer app, you can purchase the Waterscaping Permit, and the Cliff Construction Permit at the Nook Stop for 6,000 Nook Miles each. You need these to create waterfalls!
2. Dig an Edge of a Cliff Above to Reveal a Waterfall
Use a ladder to climb up the slope and dig a hole on the edge of the cliff to reveal the waterfall.
Note that you cannot create a waterfall from the bottom of a cliff or lower ground.
3.Make a River or a Pond Below for a Natural Look
The waterfall will flow below the ground. If you want to make it look more natural, you can dig up a path to connect it to a river, or you could build a pond at the bottom!
Tips for Making Waterfalls
With the Island Designer App, you'll also need to redeem an additional permits for Waterscaping, redeemed with Nook Miles at the Nook Stop terminal.
Once you have it, you'll find that you can use the Waterscaping shovel to "dig" water into the land, and also edit flowing rivers. If you dig with your shovel at the corner of a cliff, it will turn into a waterfall that will drop down to the lower elevation.
*You cannot create a waterfall at the corner of a cliff or on cliffs that run at an angle - so use these spaces to place fun decorations like torches or lanterns!
*Creating a single waterfall will not automatically create a pool of water at the bottom, but you can then move down to the lower level to create more water at the base of the waterfall to expand its reach.
*There's no limit to how long a waterfall can be - as long as you use the Cliff Construction tool to extend the length of your cliffs.
*Creating a pool of water above the waterfall of around a 5x5 size should be enough for fish to spawn - including rarer ones like the Golden Trout.
*Due to certain limitations, a waterfall cannot drop down two elevations at once, and must fall down once before falling down again - but you can still create a cascade by going down to the lower cliff and hitting it with your shovel.
